It’s Premier League match time at Villa Park on Saturday, December 11, when Aston Villa host West Brom Albion in match week 17.
Like most Brits we craved for a bit of winter sun along with the recent weather in the UK pretty much pushed us onto a plane devoid of too much resistance.
Of course us Brits appreciate Spain due to its close proximity and abundance of English speaking residents specifically inside the South. However we had a hankering for some thing that got us close to the warmer parts but not the “bucket and spade brigade”.
Aston Villa are coming off a disappointing 3-0 loss to Liverpool, their fourth defeat on the trot. With just 1 win in their last 10 games, Villa are low on confidence.
Modern looking, private pool, all mod cons and also a view to die for. I was just a little hesitant at having to drive 45 minutes from Malaga Airport up the coast and into the hills but in fact the drive was so easy on 1 straight road I had absolutely nothing to fear.
With just the lone striker in Agbonlahor, a fight-back seemed increasingly unlikely, even as Roy Hodgson’s squad doubled two minutes later.
The villa we rented was perched on a sloping hillside just outside a delightful village called Alcaucin, described as a “chocolate box” village and certainly lived as much as its reputation. Beneath was Lake Vinuela a gorgeous blue ocean tucked between the rolling hills. We already felt relaxed.
West Brom recorded a convincing 3-1 win over Newcastle in match week 16, their first league win over the Magpies in 18 attempts, over a quarter- century. Two back-to-back wins have taken the Baggies to ninth position inside the table. After they went ahead on 32 minutes by way of a Tchoyi strike, Newcastle got an opportunity to equalise quickly right after the interval but Carson was equalt towards the process as he saved a Taylor shot.
The striker got yet another goal in the dying stages and though Newcastle got a consolation in injury time, they had been no match for the Baggies on the day.
three smart bedrooms, 2 clean bathrooms, modern day kitchen, lounge and diner all kitted out with residence comforts. not that we had been going to spend a whole lot of time here however it was great to know we had been not going to slum it. Outside we had our own private pool, brick BBQ area and sun terrace with wonderful views down the hillside.
After 16 match weeks, Aston Villa are in 16th position inside the points table, on the brink of the relegation zone, whilst West Brom have jumped up to ninth.
