All You Should Want to Learn On the Topic of Goalie

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

How do you come to be a greater soccer goalie? The answer is always to master the lost art of actually catching the soccer ball. Simply blocking shots typically won’t do much more than improve your save stats. As the old frame of mind returns, so will a brand new breed of “better” goalies.

Change Your Thought Process

The goalie in ice hockey has probably the most risky job –to end the puck (sometimes zooming in at 160 km/h) from entering the goal-net.

Initial of all, goalies have to alter their believed process. Just slapping the ball away accomplishes nothing greater than giving the offensive team an additional crack in the goal. Thinking about the truth that the goalie is probably on the ground or horribly out of position, a ball in the back on the net becomes a near certainty.

Adequate Training

The goalie chest protector is a basic safety vest made from molded plastic material with specialized elbow pads, bicep and forearm protection. The chest protector is surprisingly lightweight to enable the goalie’s unrestricted movement.

There are many helmet styles for ice hockey goalies. It has to be lightweight and shock-resistant and have a foam cushion lining for comfort. Ideally helmets will function built-in sweat absorption bands.

Ice hockey goalies use catch gloves to end the puck. The glove should be challenging while providing complete freedom for wrist movement and also have wristbands for protection. A single glove would charge about $125. The goalie also uses a aim blocker for his other hand to block the puck from entering the net. Again it need to be challenging enough; an effective aim blocker expenses all-around $45.

Ice hockey goalies have leg pads which are heavily padded for full calf and shin protection. Most leg pads are closed in the feet to present defense for toes and soles. They are made of reinforced plastic material with nylon linings for comfort. Leg pads are expensive, at close to $300 to $350 a pair.

Goalies are also supplied with a throat protector to guard against direct shots, together with lacerations and abrasions from his helmet.

Everything You Need To Know About Soccer Field Dimensions

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

When it comes to soccer field dimensions, it is worth noting that the dimensions are uniform, regardless of the level of play. According to FIFA, the governing body of soccer, for certified events involving 11 players for each team, the soccer field be supposed to have a span of 100 to 130 yards and a width between 50 to 100 yards. Soccer fields in England are believed to be smaller than that resulting to more physical games. Meanwhile, in South America, the fields are much bigger giving more space and time on the ball.

For recreational soccer, playing on a smaller soccer field is suggested. By doing this, players will surely make the game enjoyable and learning is more achievable. The dimension of the playing field should be proportional to the size of the player. In a big field, recreational players would waste their time running and become tired by half time. Therefore, the kicks will be much longer.

Another problem of playing recreational soccer in a large field is that teaching strategies and team play is unlikely. Smaller soccer fields are best for average players who are slower and lacks stamina, which is usually common in 50% to 75% of recreational players.

The Penalty Area

This is the area where the goalkeeper usually uses their hands and fouls are punished. It includes the penalty spot, which is 12 yards away from the goal and the six-yard box 6 yards further from the goal. The top portion of this box includes a small arc commonly referred to as “the D.” It has a radius of 10 yards and has no purpose in the rules of soccer but simply serves as a guide for the players.

The Goal

In spite of of the level of play, the goal has a uniform measurement of 8 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

Center Circle

It divides the soccer field into two zones and is where the kickoff takes place. No player is allowed to cross their area until kickoff commences. It has a 10-yard circle within it and only the two players kicking off is permitted to stand within the inner circle.

Although soccer field measurements remain unchanged regardless of the players contending, the rules of the game allows the dimensions to be smaller for female players, persons with disabilities, or those who are below 16 years old and more than 35 years of age.

The first thing that you can do to protect yourself if you plan to buy Manchester United football tickets is to only do business with an online ticket vendor with a good reputation. It’s always a good idea to search for customer reviews before you purchase from a particular vendor. You have to be careful of two things: Not giving your money to a site which is likely to steal your details, and finding a vendor which delivers quickly. When reading a customer review on a ticket vendor, it is important to make sure it is a legitimate review and not just clever advertising. The best way to discern if a review is genuine or advertising is to look for a hyperlink towards the end of the review.

A legitimate customer reviewing a product doesn’t usually have a reason to post a link to the very product they are reviewing. Though buying tickets on eBay can often get you cheaper prices, it is probably a good idea to buy tickets from established websites that specialize in tickets alone. Often times tickets purchased on eBay don’t arrive on time and sometimes the seller doesn’t even mail them so you never receive them. While you can assume that the majority of people who sell on eBay are above board, it’s still in your best interest to read feedback about them so get a sense of how they operate.

Before you type in ANY purchasing information is the another way to avoid being scammed is to make sure the checkout page is encrypted. The importance of it can not be understated, but this is a feature not many people look for when checking out. What are the signs that will tell you if a web page is encrypted? You will normally se HTTP at the beginning of all web addresses. Web pages which are encrypted contain “HTTPS” in their address, not the usual “HTTP”. It is important to make sure the page is encrypted even if the company is completely honest, because sometimes it does not show respect for the customers and the security of their personal information. If you find an online ticket vendor that uses encryption and has good reviews, then this must be a site worth buying from.

It is probably a good idea to follow these suggestions to avoid being scammed.  It is also a good idea to follow your instincts. You shouldn’t buy anything if you get a funny feeling about the vendor. If something doesn’t sit right with you, then there is most likely something wrong with it. Doing some research will prove invaluable in fending off scam artists. Your job now is to find a price that is the best! The Red Army and Old Trafford

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Buying home game Manchester United tickets does not just provide an opportunity to see the Red Devils play live, it also provides the chance to soak in the atmosphere at Old Trafford, sometimes known as the Field of Dreams, and the home of the Red Army.

Apart from 8 years after it was bombed out during WWII, Manchester United tickets for home games at Old Trafford have been bought by fans since 1910.

The stadium was named Field of Dreams by one of its most renown players Bobby Charlton.

In 1966, Sir Robert “Bobby” Charlton, won the World Cup and was also named European Footballer of the year, in part because of his famous midfield attacks and his ferocious long-range shots.

Seating 76,212 Manchester United ticket buying fans Old Trafford is one of the largest of any English football stadiums, and it is one of only two stadia in England to have been given a  “UEFA elite stadium” five-star rating by UEFA.

As a neutral venue, Old Trafford has hosted many FA Cup semi-final matches and a number of  “English national football team” England international fixtures.

It has also played host during the  “1966 FIFA World Cup”  and  “UEFA Euro 1996″ and the  “2003 UEFA Champions League Final”.

The Old Trafford pitch is surrounded by four stands, officially known as the North, East, South and West Stands.

Each stand has at least two tiers, with the exception of the South Stand, which only has one tier because of construction restrictions.

The lower tier of each stand is split into Lower and Upper sections, the Lower sections having been converted from standing room only terraces in the early 1990s.

The most well-known stand at Old Trafford is the West Stand, more famously, known as the  Stretford End.

Originally designed to hold 20,000 fans, the Stretford End was the last remaining where fans watched the game on their feet at the ground before the forced upgrade to seating in the early 1990s.

Stretford End is where Manchester United’s most die-hard supporters, known as The Red Army are located.

Much of the noise and atmosphere at Old Trafford emanates from this stand, and the roar from the Red Army there was once measured as louder than the roar of a jumbo jet lifting off.

Unless you’ve been subscribing to your season Manchester United ticket for many years  it is impossible to get a seat in the Stretford End, even for the most die-hard fan.

Manchester United’s fan’s, better known as the Red Army was once the biggest and most notorious group of followers British football has ever seen.

When the Red Army followed their team to an away game, the town would be in a uproar:  the fans would travel en-mass by train, coach, car or even by foot if necessary to get to the game.

In  “1974–75 in English football” the mid-seventies when Manchester United had been sent down from the top flight of English football and played a single season in the  “Football League Second Division” Second Division, the Red Army caused so much trouble  at football grounds around the country visiting other team’s stadiums and often outnumbering  home fans, it led to the introduction of home and away fan segregation and fencing at football grounds throughout England.

These days, the Red Army is nothing like it was in the 1970’s & 80’s.

This Manchester United supporters club, now has a fan base of over 300 million fans across the world.

The sheer number of Manchester United fans, all of whom would like to get to Old Trafford, both to see the game and to experience the atmosphere there, result in it almost always being difficult to buy Manchester United Tickets.
